raytheon depth problem

I ahve an older ratheon depth/speed and this year the depth is not registering properly. Its the type the is inside the hull, it came loose and i refitted it and used mineral oil.
I now get readings in deeper water above 2.5m but stops registering in water shallower than that.

any ides?
