The Raymarine share price is up by around 20% this morning and they have had to put out the following announcement

RAYMARINE PLC ("RAYMARINE" OR THE "COMPANY")
The Board of Raymarine notes the recent movement in its share price and confirms
that it has received a preliminary approach which may or may not lead to an
offer being made for the Company.

I wonder who that might be then?

Probably someone intending to move it somewhere cheaper?
Mind you they haven't changed name for several years now so its about time!

The current ownership of Raymarine are a management buyout from Raytheon, the probable bidders are Navico Group owners of Lowrance Electronics, Simrad Yachting AS, Brookes & Gatehouse, Navman, Northstar, MX Marine, and Eagle Sonar, who are in their turn owned by a private equity group.

Just hope the current owners get enough manage to pay off Gussie and Prudential Venture.

Navico Group

Interesting break-up - commercial ventures into one holding group and recreational into another with Jens-Thomas Pietralla, president & CEO of both - looks as though Carlyle Group have put the money in.

Obviously intend to corner the market in recreational gear, drive up margins, and then go public, with the Navico Group during the next upswing in the market.

Meanwhile us yachties are going to have lots of justifiable complaints about the price of boating electronics.

Probably, Tony, you lot, in NASA, are the next on the hit-list!!!

Ideal opportunity for a Takeover. New premises being built for 2009, market leader, huge delay in new ERP Project can they maintain momentum without external input
