Raymarine st6000

Just wondering if a st6000 head with an ACU needs the Ev1 to function fully. Would the compass I have connect instead. Just trying to upgrade from my enjoying tiller pilot to something more hardy and less prone to water ingress.

Hi.
What I’m trying to find out is if I can utilise my fluxgate compass instead of an EV1 to work with the ACU and control unit. I know I’ll not have the same functions but would be happy with it operating as a normal tiller pilot.

Trying to avoid paying £800 for a EV1.

My other option would be to continue to look for st4000 but no luck as yet.

I think you can use any compass that sends NEMA compass messages
