Raymarine ST60 Query

I have a Raymarine ST60 "Graphic" display which has not worked since I purchased the boat. It is linked to a C80 plotter.

The display shows a flickering grey pattern over 90% of the screen with underlying figures just about visible but not decipherable in and among the flickering grey mass. I can tell that scrolling between pages does change the underlying figures.

I wondered whether it could be repaired, but without looking at it my marine electrician stated that the screen has failed and the whole unit needs replacing.

I have looked on Ebay and can find an ST60 "Multi" display which looks exactly the same but with the "Multi" instead of "Graphic" label (same function keys).

My queries:
1 - can I take it that the unit is scrap?
2 - Will the Multi be a direct replacement for the Graphic with the same functions?

i guess its scrap
i use 2 multi displays, one in the cockpit the other at the chart table. they will display most everything on the network & can the pages can be set-up to your selections

The Multi will only display one parameter at a time. I have one below, but found it inadequate as a cockpit display. You seem to have been unlucky. My GR has been OK for the last twelve years or so, touch wood.

Reading the above, it may be that they have upgraded the Multi to show pages of data, in which case it would be fine. You would lose the ability to display historic data only.

Don't chuck it, it may be fixable. I'm no expert on these, but I'll take a look if you like.

Thanks for the offer Nigel, I have no expertise on electronics whatsoever! I will take it off when we lift the boat for the winter (need a weekend of good weather first).

I have ST60 wind, depth and speed/log, but would like to be able to have waypoint/rolling road info in the cockpit.
