components.jpg For the 3rd time my Raymarine ST60 log insert - water ingress blocker - has pulled out completely when changing from paddle wheel to blank. Frightening amount of water rushes in until blank is screwed into place!
What is happening is the arrowed 'stainless' clip is releasing the circled inlet. I'm in the water so I can't look at the problem but I'm pretty sure the problem is more than the stainless clip although the inhull fitting looks fine from the outside.
Here in Guadeloupe, the turn round on the hard is very fast and I'm unsure of the skill level of the local shipwright .... I'll live without the analogue log for the time being but next time I haul I thought I could look at inserting a RAYMARINE P371 Speed & Temperature Sensor kit which I can get from SVB for 150 euros... The kit illustration has a replacement through hull fitting whinew-components.jpgch I want to avoid fitting - time/money/local skills - but the rest of it looks as if it would just fit into the existing orifice?
Or does it expect to have the circled original 'water ingress valve' already in place?
Or where can I get - order - the stainless - arrowed - clip in Europe?- exactly the correct dimension for an ST60 paddle wheel log?
One of the joys of the Caribbean is that spares are not easily available and I need to solve this when I get back to Europe at the end of the month..
Very grateful for any help - guidance.
Michael
