Been offered a Raymarine ST5000+ autopilot control head, it’s brand new, never been used but above all its cheap!
Does anyone know if this could be a straightforward replacement for a dead ST4000+ control head connected to the ubiquitous fluxgate compass and a newer EV-100 tiller drive?
The ST5000+ was designed for hydraulic steering systems but I can’t really see why anything but the drive unit would be incompatible, I would expect the computery bits in the control head to function exactly the same whatever type of drive was connected?
I’d be most grateful for advice as this could make an affordable solution for me if I can configure it to work fairly simply!
