I've just dropped the mast on our newly aquired boat which has ST40 instruments. I can't see any way of unplugging the anemometer. I don't really want to pull the cable through the mast - any ideas?
Mine was ST50, (ST60 now), and is combined with a VHF aerial... just unscrews from a plug thing. I wonder if there is a way of copping it an reconnecting with very waterproof connectors?
No experience of ST40 wind but have been intersted in getting one to go with rest of myST40 kit. Is it any good, how accurate does it seem to be as when I contacted Raymarine they said it was designed for use on power boats and was not accurate enough for use on sail. What are peoples experience or wil I be wasting my cash?
Cant speak for the st40. Mine are st60 which can be user calibrated to show whatever wind speed you think it is. Just dont forget that if you are running the wind is going to feel a lot stronger when you go about.
Direction is not bad but I still prefer to look up at a mast head indicator. Far more accurate and reliable (unless a seagull has recently perched on it!)
