During the summer both of my ST2000+s suffered overheating and expired. Why 2? I have zero faith in their reliability but sail single-handed and find them useful for navigating, making tea, anchor preparation, etc.. The overheating was probably entirely my fault - I had cocooned them in plastic overcoats to stop the damp, maybe should have left an air hole or two :distress:

So now I have them spread around in bits. Obviously both the motors have overheated and warped both their mounting plates and the outside cover. I have fettled, filed and fiddled to the extent one of the tillers is now working, the other has a motor that when running no-load is not happy, sparks internally and gets ooh-aah hot. So, to the question - Raymarine want ~£70 for a motor (but not to private punters) - has anyone procured suitable replacement, ideally around the £3 going rate for chinese similar, but much too fast motors?

I am sure if you visit Jaycar store, you will find something very suitable on the shelf. I certainly have, when I needed replacement motor for my ST600 :-).
