Have tried the Navionics one without much success so I installed the free RayTech Planner. Load it up and it requires the chart to be read by a different card reader to the one that comes with the Navionics. So I try and find the Raymarine E86026 Navionics Multicard Reader – no luck anywhere. Any suggessions welcome

I bought Navionics Navplanner mainly to get the card reader: it should be the same thing that gets shipped with RNS! So I'm not sure why it's not working for you.

I have both RNS 6.0 and Navplanner 3.10 quite happily both using the card reader that came with Navplanner.

Neither are ideal for what I want. Navplanner, you can't even centre the display around an object. RNS is complicated, large, slow, and buggy, but has more features. Come back Garmin Mapsource, all is forgiven.

Thanks, a link to the updated version would be handy. The chart reader is like THIS: and came with the Navionics software. It looks identical to the "E86026" one on the Raymarine site.

I got a Dazzle Reader hence the problem. Will see if I can get one from Navionics.

Thanks

Andrew

To download and install NavPlanner 3.12 update:

1. Click on the link below:

ftp://npupdate:software@download.navionics.it

2. Copy the files "NP312.zip" and "READ_ME_FIRST.txt" directly to your PC

3. The file "READ_ME_FIRST.txt" contains the instructions to install the update. Please open it and perform the procedure as indicated

Marine Super Store (Port Solent) have probably got one in stock, because I recently ordered it and cancelled, so in all probability it's still sitting on their shelf...

Thanks for the link.

Yep, me too. Got the Raytech software which seems quite good, and does what I want i.e. planning routes to upload to plotter. Same problem though - were to find card reader? I can only find it in the states at $75 which seems a bit steep as they're usually about a fiver!!
