Raymarine RC435i GPS - "Flash checksum fail"

Folks, not sure if anyone has experienced this before but on a Raymarine RC435i when it starts up I get a "Flash checksum fail" and cannot do anything else except power the GPS off.

Just wondering if anyone has experienced this before? I didn't have a manual at the time so couldn't try any master/soft resets, all I did was take out the flash card and put it back in but it didn't do anything

When I turn on the GPS without the card inserted I still get the error.

I haven't done a factory reset or upgraded to the latest firmware which I will do tomorrow but wondering if anyone had any ideas in the meantime.

Have used these lots and only problem I have is display freezing which if you power on and off it sorts itself out, have also got the RC400 hand held version and thats been excellent,
Just looked in manual and theres no mention of the fault you describe but it does tell you how to do a reset.
If you dont have a manual it can be downloaded from Raymarines website

I tried a reset this morning and still the same error. I also removed the CF card hoping it would work with the basemap but STILL the same error.

Next step is to get a blank CF card and try to update the firmware
