I have never really got to grips with all the different chart types, chip types etc and now need help!!!

I have a raymarine rc400 handheld plotter - the manual says it needs navionics gold charts on a cf card.

can these be bought - if so where
does anyone have one [channel & solent]
or can i buy one on another type of card and copy it onto a cf card? [it so how many mb's?]
or is there any other solution you can suggest?

sorry for asking what some of you will think are pretty basic questions!!!!

CF is compact flash card. The Navionics gold cards can be bought from most chandlers, or online or eBay second hand. You cannot as a rule copy the charts from one format to another as they have copyright protection built into them. Budget about £185 for a new one covering the whole of the UK, less for just the channel, or about half that for a second hand one from e bay. They can be updated by a Navionics dealer but that is also eye wateringly expensive.
