7000 Control Unit. Autopilot works fine and then....! it will suddenly screech, seize up and not steer. The only "cure" I have found is to switch off the circuit breaker and restart. I have noticed that the fault occurs sometimes if there is a vibration near the control unit e.g. someone drops a winch handle above it, or if I am activating a +1 or+10 control, usually to port. I am beginning to think there is an intermittent fault in the power supply to the control unit, e.g. plug connection, or perhaps there is corrosion at the control interface. Has anyone else had this fault; or can anyone suggest a repair before I start to take the control unit to bits. As always, thanks in advance to those who respond.
