I have a Raymarine RAY215 with cockpit second station that after only six years (protected by canvas cover when not in use) is crumbling into pieces. Spares are nowhere to be found because it is a discontinued model.

Raymarine as usual providing an apalling service to customers.

I am considering a replacement with a Standard Horizon GX1500 and second station. I was wondering if anyone is using SH VHF and are happy with it. Well of course you would of your purchase, but I would appreciate some open and honest comments.

Thank you.

Have used SH kit for years now, my old handheld (metal case) has been going about 10 years, has been thoroughly abused, dropped, kicked around the boat (rib), and still comes up trumps every time.

The fixed one again can't be faulted, does everything it should, and is on the rib so open to some pretty tough conditions.

Did once have a problem with the chartplotter - the day cover blew off whilst up the motorway! One phone call to SH, free replacement arrived next day.

Would very highly recommend them.
