I was on a trip with the owner on a boat where a new Quantum radar had been installed very recently to replace a 2005 analogue unit. The electronics are wall to wall Raymarine and the system is wired rather than using wifi.

Given that the configuration screen offers to enable/disable wifi, what is the best practice, stick with the wired connection (everything else is wired) and disable wifi or enable wifi? Can the system be configured for both simultaneously? My immediate feeling is keep it simple: if you have wires and the wiring is known good, stick with that and disable wi-fi.

The boat also has a mi-fi system for iPads and the like when in mobile range. Is there any know issues of network conflicts when you have Raymarine wifi and a more domestic type wifi simultaneously? Could the system get issues when you have wired (seatalk) and wifi enabled at the same time.

The radar which initially was fine got more an more troublesome as the trip progressed and eventually just vanished from the system. I was wondering if networks might have been an issue.
