Raymarine plotter wont boot up

C series and suddenly it wont boot. It opens up the welcome screen immediately power is switched on ( ie without pressing the power button on the set itself) and then switches off and on again and off again etc. Never gets to the warning message bit where you have to press OK, and none of the buttons will work.

Any ideas before I send it off for repair. Is there any way to reboot by pressing a couple of buttons or one of those pin holes you stick a paper clip in like my router has?

Pull the main power lead out of the set then push it back in again, may fix it.

Tried it - didnt work. Have also disconnected all other inputs ie seatalk and nmea but made no difference

There is an alternative button combination to press but I have forgotten it! if you ring Raymarine and ask for technical sales / support they will talk you through it.

sounds like the power on button on the unit is stuck in the down position - considered giving it a little exercise to see if it frees up?

Also try it with chart card removed.

Happened to me a couple of years ago. Haven't got the manual to hand but think you hold down the soft key nearest the Power button to do a factory reset. NB: You will lose any waypoints stored. Good luck!

Unless you can get to the menus (which based on your OP it seems that you can't get past the "OK" screen) I don't see how you can possibly back up your waypoints onto a CF card. (The Navionics (or CMap) cartography CF card does not hold the waypoint data.)

No. The waypoints, tracks etc are held in the chartplotter memory, but can be backed up onto a CF card. Unfortunately, you need to do the backup while things are working normally!
