My Raymarine i70 stopped working, so sent it back for repair and was sent a new i70s - next generation model. I note on my old
i70 2 sockets for connection, in which one had the blanking plug. In my new i70s though, only one socket, and no blanking plug.

Can I just plug it into the one daisy chained cable from the i70 on its left? No blanking plug? Or am I missing something?

Raymarine's documentation on this is terrible - I was trying to understand the two socket layout of the i70 last night, and the manuals just say nothing about daisy-chaining.

One thing I did find was this explanation on Raymarine's forum of why they changed it between the i70 to i70s.

Sorry I can't be more help, but it might be worth stating whether your network is Seatalk or SeatalkNG (or is it possibly a combination?). Does it have a "backbone" that you're aware of?

:-(

Yes, I have a backbone with blue cables, and the white drop cables going to a daisy chained series of 3 instruments. I'll plug it in at the weekend and see what happens. If nothing, I'll call them up next week and report back.

Agree, it is poor.

Yes, the two units are plug compatible though the i70s has a single socket to comply with the NMEA2000 veto on daisy chaining. Software is identical.

ps if your existing instruments are daisy chained you'll have to put your new i70s on the end!

Thanks. Here's the response from Raymarine I recevied for the same question:

'Yes you can use that same connection the black blanking plug is just a plastic designed to cover the port from corrosion. The blue one on the other side is mandatory to have in a pair'
