My Raymarine p70 autopilot display has stopped working. I’ve checked the SeaTalkng cable with my multimeter and it is getting power.

I emailed Raymarine to see what their fixed price repair is and nearly fell out of my crows nest to be quoted £180 + postage!

Anyone able to recommend any repair alternatives?

As said, the Service Centre. From my experience they are good, quick and honest. I think they charge £55 + VAT for one hours labour to diagnose the problem and then tell you how much the repair will cost so that you can choose whether to go ahead or not. You can find them on E-Bay where IIRC they also have the costs for fixed price repairs.

Another vote for the Service Centre linked above. Brought my Autohelm 100 course computer back from the dead for under £100.

A vote against The Service Centre. They wanted to replace the whole mother board on my E80. Raymarine fixed it for £30.

Why go for fixed price? Is that the only option?

I have just had a failure in one of my machining centres. The spindle drive module failed. Replacement cost ~£3000. Fixed price repair ~£1800. Friend down the road - one thyristor blown - £48 (plus his labour say £60).

Contact Raymarine service department directly and speak to an engineer.
