Raymarine E80

Any obvious reason why my E80 chart-plotter should suddenly start having difficulties in establish a GPS fix? Hitherto, a fix has been instantaneous but for the last four times I have switched the plotter on it has failed to obtains a fix without me re-booting it 5 or 6 times. Once a fix had been obtained it has held on to it without problem and otherwise seems to be working fine.

Agreed it's the most likely reason.

How interesting, I have the same intermittent problem. Is there a battery in the r 125.

Yes, good for 5 - 7 years before needing replacement. Have done it twice now.

I hadn't realised that there was a battery in the antenna - all my manuals are on the boat. I did look at the available literature on the Raymarine website but a quick scan didn't reveal any reference to the need to replace a battery. The boat is 6 years old so consistent with what Pete is saying.
