I've acquired an E80 plotter and need help installing it.
I have a power cable but I can't see where the GPS antenna plugs into it
Do I use the NMEA port/socket?

From memory, my E7 that I fitted 8+ years ago does not require a separate antenna. You can certainly check this via the correct manual.
The E80 and C80 do have a separate GPS antenna and it has electronics inside it. Before fitting it would be worth replacing the battery inside the antenna, then its good to go for about 5 years.

That's interesting. I think I have just learnt the reason for my intermittent lost fix because of your post. Thanks :-)
I also found this but there seem to be plenty of similar accounts detailing the battery replacement and it looks like the E80 and E120 share the same Raystar antenna.

Plenty of second hand 1st generation raymarine MFDs for sale in perfect or near perfect working order.

Many not with latest software upgrades and slow to get a fix.

Some people are easily parted with their cash for a complete replacement with built in gps.

A blank or intermittent display can usually be fixed with little more than contact spray in the right place and a set of jewellers drivers and a you tube vid!
