i have a fairline targa 37 with the older sl70 radar and i am thinking of upgrading the electronics, we are a bit tight for space on the dash,so i was thinking of the new e7d as the upgrade, just wondering if anybody has any experiance of these,re ease of use and reliability, any thoughts or imput would be welcome ,i realise i will have to upgrade the radome as well.

The new stuff is quite amazing - it comes with WiFi and Bluetooth so it will be compatible with just about anything modern you have. When paired to an Ipad it will swap courses backwards and forwards, play music via Bluetooth and you can even use the Ipad as a repeater screen. We have a pair of the old E series widescreens and have it WiFi enabled so it only does some of that but even so it's very cool.

We installed an e7 during our boat's refit. So far it has behaved itself impeccably. We use it together with an iPad. We can plan routes on the iPad using the Navionics software, which then syncs with the e7, and during trips we use the iPad as a repeater. The latest RayControl app lets us control the e7 from the ipad, too.
The e7 itself works well and although it has a small screen, it's still capable of displaying lots of information.
