Raymarine E120 \'remanufactured\' .. whats all this about ?????

Hello guys n gals.
Just ordered a 'remanufactured' E120 Plotter with 2 years global warranty from the good ol' US of A... 1100 squids inc postage to Spain...
Whats this all about ??.. there are MANY advertises of such a unit on Ebay US.. even the normal UK dealers are now offering the same for around 2.5K gbp ... eeeeek !!!.

HOW CAN there be so many...
OR.. has RM decided it needs to sell more, not wanting to upset previous high dollar buyers, they describe them as 'remanufactured' .. there CANT be so many surely.. so are these just normal units with RM trying to placate the previous high payers.. perhaps a newer model on the horizon etc...

I am happy either way, it works for me.. and it is 'relatively' cheap.

Whats going on ??

Raymarine UK also sell kit on Ebay themselves, and our old friend Tome used to have a contact who would sell direct.

All kosher stuff, I suspect just been returned under warranty and repaired, or demo models, etc etc.

The use of the term Remanufactured seems to be fairly widespread - yesterday I bought a Dewalt cordless drill at a very reputable central London tool shop for £39.95 apparently "remanufactured" I was told that these were usually sets returned by customers. It has remanufactured stamped in a few places but appears to otherwise be brand new and carries full 12month warranty.

I think manufacturers use the term to 'segment the market' in other words sell similiar products at different prices so as to maximise revenue (like offpeak train fares)

Hi Guys
But there is so many of them being advertises, its hard to think they were ex faulty.. but ya never know.
1100 quid delivered is a darn good price though, he even marks it as a gift of low value lol..

Possibly is RM offloading stock me thinks.. ?

Mind you IF they are faulty returns, I bet they have had a far more intensive test now than a new one.. and all the latest firmware / changes etc.

I think there could be an element of offloading stock. The great thing about your deal is the 2 year global warranty - the "remanufactured" units sold by Raymarine in the UK usually only have 6 months' warranty. Incidentally, if others are interested, Raymarine have "remanufactured" offers most of the time, just phone them up.
