My Raymarine C80 screen is playing up - it starts up OK but after some 5 minutes or so the screen just shows coloured lines then goes white - all other functions are OK but nothing can be seen on screen. Does anyone know if there is a straight plug-in replacement for the C80 - or know if the problem is fixable

Usually fixable; there's a flexible ribbon cable which connects the screen to the PCB. If you Google, you should find details of how to fix it, the process involves re-connecting the ribbon cable.

Press carefully but firmly around the edge of the screen (not the screen itself) with the unit switched off. Power up and see if it improves. As said above, it's related to poor contacts on the ribbon cable to the screen.

I have fixed a couple of these for fellow cruisers.

It has been several years since the last, but it is quite a straightforward fix, just a ribbon cable that tends to pull out of the socket. The only difficult part is you need to dismantle a lot of the chartplotter to reach the cable connection.

I think this is the offending board. It jumps out of the plastic clip and no longer plugs into the contact below, but it has been a long time since the last repair. So this maybe the wrong photo.

The service manual might be available somewhere online - PM me if you want. But to get to the screen ribbon connectors you in fact only need to follow your nose from the front panel - you don't even have to dismount the unit from your panel. Be delicate with the ribbon cable ends. A pair of electronics pliers or tweezers may help.

If you can't do it yourself (or try and fail) there's an excellent postal repair service available via eBay for £65: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Raymarin...ropean-Countries/231915443088?epid=1189136676

Me too, l did that on my C70. A bit fiddly and a lot to take apart but you see the connector quite clearly and all l had to do was push it gently, it seemed to do the trick, l doubt yours has completely come adrift so you can carefully get a finger on it and in my case that fixed the problem, now been running ok for the last month.
