Hello again! I'm after more help!

I have on my boat, a Raymarine C80 display, with radar, GPS and sounder, (transducer connected via a sounder module).

I'm contemplating a side scan sonar (I hear Hummingbied's are good??), but it's now down to cost.
I am 100% happy with my Raymarine set-up, and would be pleased if I could get a transducer that would turn my display into a side scan, rather than have 2 displays.

I have trolled the net, but not found anything that might steer me in the direction of any answers!!! Can anybody please help???

Many thanks in advance!

Pedro.

Much more to side scan than the transducer, you need the whole system.

I used to have a C80, and now a E120 on my Karnic 29ft boat.
Raymarine has no side scan transducer, nor any solution possible for that.

2 years ago after searching on fora and the net, I purchased a Lowrance HDS8, multifunction display, including side scan sonar and normal sonar,
specially for wreck diving.

At that moment this Lowrance unit was the only one that really worked,
I can post pictures from own made side scans.
The humminbird didn't work very well at that time (much negative feedback on the net, US fisherman forum)
At this moment there is also a simrad sidescan, seems also to work, might be a oem version of the lowrance (don't know for sure, just a rumour)

I'm going to sell the Lowrance, because the Karnic is hardly used anymore.
The HDS8 is a multifunction GPS charplotter - sonar - sidescan diplay,
I don't have any charts in it, and don't have the radar option.
unit has original paperwork and box, in perfect condition, and still installed on the boat,
for sale at 50% at my buying price (wich i had at a good deal 2 years ago)

a bit of a duff Q, can the side sonar scan up to the water surface?
I mean what is the difference to the forward facing sonar?

I'm looking for a cheapish s/h plotter/sonar/radar combo and since there's no fog around here, I'm more keen on a system that points lobster pots, I wonder if that would do. Ability to add a proper radar once I justify the cost is a plus ;)

so, Bart, put me down as v.interested (depending on price of course)

cheers

V.
