Our C70 Plotter, which suits us very well, is coming to the end of its life and needs replacing. It’s recessed into the steering binnacle & fills most of the available space so no room for a significantly bigger footprint.
Options suggested so far are an Axiom 9 or eS75. The Axiom has a much larger screen, but is touch screen only.
The eS75 is a hybrid touch screen with buttons. This seems useful when it’s rough as I suspect i’ll find a touch screen difficult to use.

Comments/ recommendations from anyone who’s used the above or another suitable Raymarine Plotter appreciated?

Thanks,
John.

You could go for an Axiom Pro 9, which has the knobs built in. More money though. Or go with the Axiom 9 and install the remote buttons/knobs widget somewhere close by - last time I checked that was a lot cheaper than buying a Pro, provided you have the space

I am going to replace my console mounted raymarine C70 with their es75. As the cut out for the C70 is deeper (i.e. height wise) than the es75 I think I will need an adaptor plate which Raymarine do not do as standard. Has anyone made this upgrade?

I have an Axiom 7 with the additional separate buttons thing. Indeed if it gets sea water the plotter sometimes has issues. However I find it much easier to use the tablet rather than the buttons. Full control via the raymarine application. Even for the autopilot.

We replaced our c80 with an axiom Pro 9 and it is so much better in every respect. Be aware that the axiom Pro has a better screen resolution than the normal axiom.

Think I should have started a new thread, sorry. My query above was that I have an es75 on order (yes a deal), and wanted to know how anyone sorted out fitting into a C70 cutout?

I got the mould for my starboard instrument pod out of the shed, and laid up a fresh new pod to cut a new correctly-sized hole out of.

I realise that’s not the most helpful example :p

Well, it is an answer and food for thought as it might be possible to mould a new panel top.
