raymarine c70 acting up.

hi guys, Just been out on boat today switched raymarine c70 plotter on, It all lit up ok apart from it will not read from navionics card,I tried three different cards but it will not read any.It worked ok last weekend,I have tried system reset and factory reset its got me stumped anyone got any
ideas.I HAVE Tried all cards on friends boat they all work.

It may need a software update as the newer charts won't work on older software versions, does it all work ok until you insert the chart as this is what usually happens? What software version is installed?

Sorry to say that mine did that a while ago and ended up BER when sent back to Raymarine. Needed a new main board. I think mine was due to water ingress but one day it worked and one day it didn't.

Hope yours is something different.

hi matm, thanks for reply i hope this is just a glitch this unit is fitted in cabin so no water ingress.I am going to try software update as suggested by aquapower.cheers paul

Have you had a look in to the slot with a torch to check for bent or corroded contacts and any crud that's preventing a good connection between the card and the contacts?

Agreed. If it worked before, it should work now unless anything has changed. The water ingress bit (moisture) was what Raymarine said on their diagnosis but the card reader slot was knackered and it was a new main board to fix, albeit from Raymarine. Maybe worth taking the lid off for a closer look - very easy to do.

It should still read the cards for the purpose of data transfer but the older software doesn't always read the current charts until it has the current software installed.

Thanks guys for your advice am going to try upgrading soft ware just waiting for blank cf card to arrive. Will give you an update when i get the card cheers paul.
