I have just purchased and installed one of these plus a Raymarine AIS 650 transceiver plus two i70s display units. I am trying to connect my I phone to the Axiom having downloaded the RayView app using wifi which I understood the Axiom can do.
The retailer has not been able to help so I am hoping there is somebody on here can tell me how to do it. I cannot find any reference to wifi in the Axiom settings although the marketing material refers to it.
Can anyone please advise? Thanks in advance

In lighthouse 2 the plotter broadcasts its WIFI when switched on in the "Wireless Connections" menu under settings, which the phone can log onto the WIFI is a load of numbers starting with RM in front. Think the Axiom LH3 doesn't have this yet, but should be one of the next updates.

Thanks very much Barbican very helpful. I cannot find a ref to wifi in settings. Not being computer literate how will I find out about a future update and load it onto my Axiom? Presume I unplug it from the boat and plug it into my PF at home.

+1
If you check Raymarine's compatibility chart you'll see that none of their Apps are (yet) compatible with the Axiom range because of LH3. LH3 is very much a work in progress and IMHO the Axiom has been released well before it's software is ready. A lot of stuff the other plotters can do is currently missing. It was this that put me off buying one.

Hi, If you keep an eye on this site address:

http://www.raymarine.co.uk/view/?id=15032387737

it will show when each new release becomes available, when you download a new version the site will take your details promising to email you when subsequent new releases are available. This has never worked for me, so I check every 3-4 months. LH2 has had many upgrades and I suspect LH3 will be similar, so if nothing in August, check again in September, shouldn't take long......

To upgrade is simple, and the method is here:

Good luck

The Raymarine website clearly promises "Standard Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity allows connection to the latest Raymarine apps for tablets and smartphones." I'd be tempted to tell the retailer that the product doesn't match its description, and ask for a full or partial refund.

Thanks very much all for your constructive comments. It seems I will have to wait for further updates in the software. On rereading the marketing blurb it does have a small note that an update will be needed for compatibility with other devices, not obvious when you are buying the kit. A black mark for Raymarine and the retailer who told me I would have this facility.

I've recently bought the Axiom too and have to admit to feeling a little robbed and only have half a Chart plotter, I know the features are coming and when they do it should be a good device. Ultimately if it wan't ready for the market don't release it 3 to 4 months early with only limited features.

I wouldn't have minded if it was only one or two features!

To add insult in I see they are now starting to mention the Axiom Pro leaves me wondering if the software will be ready for that either or if they are focusing on that rather than the Axiom (basic). Leaping from Garmin hasn't been the good experience I was hoping for but hopefully things will get better soon.

I can't understand people's patience with Raymarine. Buying supposedly premium kit which doesn't do what it's claimed to do is bad enough, but then having to wait months for a software update which may or may not arrive is crazy. If you'd bought a washing machine, or a television, or indeed a car which didn't have the features it claimed, you'd soon be complaining.

I was just buying some new electronics and was pretty surprised at the lack of decent answers to what I thought were perfectly straightforward questions from b&g, raymarine and garmin. My conclusion is that they sell these things in such small numbers that they are effectively lashed together and bunged out. When you are used to buying things like pcs, phones and tvs which are sold in their millions it is a bit of a shock to return to what is a cottage industry I guess.

I gather that televisions are approaching similar problems with their "smart" features.

Doesn't seem to mention wifi... unless App support means wifi.

The title of the thread is misleading - the app support is what the OP was actually after.

The plotter has had wifi since it was first released, in that you can connect Quantum radars to the plotter using it, or connect to marina wifi or personal hotspots in order to download updates. I applied my last software update while sailing down Portsmouth Harbour, with the plotter connected to the internet via wifi to my phone.
