I have had to have my Raymarine course computer (Type 300) replaced. I have a Raymarine st6000+ autopilot

I understand hat I will have to "swing" the fluxgate compass. I have read the Raymarine manual for "Automatic Deviation Correction". It states once in the menu for adjust compass that I motor slowly through 360deg. It also states that I should adjust the displayed heading with the course change buttons until it agrees with the steering compass.

I am confused. Should I first go through 360deg without touching any buttons until I get the display of amount of deviation? Then should I correct deviation manually with the course change buttons?

Or,...... should I motor through 360 deg continually changing the displayed heading with the course change buttons?

If anyone has done this with success, I would be grateful for their input

Thanks

You motor in a slow circle (maybe more than once) until the display changes and shows deviation. Then you head in a known direction and manually adjust the compass reading until it agrees with your steering compass or a known transit. Basically, just follow the instructions in your manual, in the sequence they are written.
