My boat has ST60 but the masthead unit on the early ST60 was carried over from the ST50 so has a cylindrical body. Mine has stopped working electronically with suspect Hall effect sensors. To replace with the Raymarine unit now available is £370 before adding the cable and block , and even then the speed will over read by 30%. So really what I need is a complete wind instrument that will then be NMEA 2000 Raytalk 2 which in turn will look out of place and need some data converter which then means new plotter new radar, speed and depth plus AIS etc. You can see the cost mounting up like the rotating dials on a slot machine.

Others must have had this issue and I am certain someone will have found a way or replacing the hall effect sensors, maybe with a small elecrtonics outfit. I am willing to wield a soldering iron.

Help!

You can also recalibrate the ST60 so it doesn't over read if you do end up with the later transducer.

Thanks, I had spotted that one. But the odd thing is that my wind direction has also gone wonky which my testing to date shows one of the Hall effect transistors having failed. And that electronic unit doesnt see to be available. So thats the one to repair.

I’ve recently replaced the PCB in my ST60 masthead unit. Cost was a little over £100. Very easy to do.

I’ve got a spare ST50 mast head unit plus a cable assembly if that helps. I’ve checked the cable and it’s good but I don’t know anything about the ST50 except it comes with a two wind direction vanes and two sets of wind speed cups.

which pcb? there are two, one for speed and one for direction. The speed one is available but no source so far for the direction one.
