Raymarine anemometer alignment

Reading the instructions, the words say that when first you get it, switch it on and drive round in a circle twice and it will sort itself out.

After a couple of years, ours has gone a bit out of alignment and is reading10 degrees or more to port.

My question: If, when we first boot it up after launch, can we realign it by doing the 'circle' or do we have to go into its brain and readjust (the book shows how to do this but it would be easier if it did it itself)?
 
If it is the ST50 wind instrument then it could need both the 'linearisation' (done by turning two circles after power up) and 'alignment' (in the CALibration menu).

The manual suggests doing both - Linearise before aligment...

Let us know if it's a different system.
 
I find my ST50 regularly goes out of alignment. The easiest way is to sail along eyeballing the different angles shown by the windex and the instrument and manually calibrating accordingly.

Likewise. I get my son to look at the mast head and shout out when it goes through dead to wind whilst I twiddle with the ST60 which I guess is similar. Once it's set it seems to be OK for the rest of the season.

Assuming you are talking about the Wind Vane, there are different procedures for almost every Raymarine variant.

The instructions are freely available from their web site.

I can't see that the anemometer would need any alignment unless it's the rotovane type?

Yes, I understand that we are talking about wind direction rather than wind speed.
