Hi,

I see that Raymarine's RayControl and RayRemote apps are still free until April 7th (linked from here : http://www.raymarine.co.uk/view/?id=2121) and I wondered if anyone had tried them on an Android smartphone ? My e7 has a resolution of 800x480 and I see you can get cheap Android devices at around the £ton which have display resolutions that match the e7. Has anyone tried this and have any comments ?

Raymarine suggest using a tablet because the display on a smartphone is a bit small but I don't want to buy a tablet at this time whereas I am already looking at buying a new sp so I am most interested in opinions form people who've actually tried the apps on the smaller devices.

Thanks,

Boo2

I control my E7 from my iPad and my only complaint is that the E7 looks a bit cr*p on the iPad display because of the mismatch of screen resolutions.

Probably you would be really happy if using a cheap Android device.

I've used RayView on my iPhone and RayControl on my iPad.

On the iPhone it's ok for a quick glance if you're say on the bow of the boat and wish to have a quick look but it's of very limited use.

On the iPad (aside from the resolution mismatch as posted above) I find it really useful. So much so that we now use our iPad in a waterproof case as our outside plotter attached to the binnacle.
