Have just got insurance approval for new instruments after a lightning strike.
Choice will be between Raymarine and B&G Triton.
How would the panel jump? I will pick brains at the LIBS, a reason to go at last!
Any input very welcome.

I upgraded to i70s a couple of years back and have been perfectly happy with them and similarly a lot of forum members like their Triton displays.

My new boat will have a full B&G package so can give you a fully informed view in about 5 months time which is probably too late so having a look a both manufacturers stands should suffice.

One difference between them is that B&G don't do an equivalent unit to the p70 as the Triton has a key pad only.

You might also take a look at the Garmin GMI20, same size/definition as the i70. I have them on my boat, and they seem to be very good.

Sorry, my post wasn't terribly clear.

P70 is an updated ST6001, etc so it has the autopilot controls and a display which shows autopilot information and/or other stuff from the network. On the Triton system the autopilot is controlled from a 'keypad' which is separate from the displays. (Although both also allow the autopilot to be controlled from the plotter)

Sorry to be ignorant, saga moment, but p70 and key pad?

I wondered about that, he was maybe getting confused with Raymarine touch screen multifunction displays.

Edit: I see he's replied. This forum has decided I can't delete my post!

I have B&G Triton with a P70 auto pilot head.
I should have gone with the Triiton key pad, as the B&G display shows all AP functions anyway.

The only disadvantage in the two manufacturers is the inability to have group instrument back lighting control. Each has to be done separately.
