I was down at the marina at lunch time today, the wind was blowing a mere F7 gusting 8. The wind was howling through the rigging of the boats in the yard, in the boat club yard, just before the marina there was a small boat that had its genoa left on, now shredded.
I look at Chimet and see the wind is now gusting over 40knts (F9), with worse forecast for tomorrow.
When I stepped on my boat it was surging from side to side as the gusts caught the rigging, the fenders rubbing hard against the pontoon, but oh, how glad I was that the water was forgiving the hardest gusts, giving comfort to the boat, allowing it to give way rather than fight the wind.
Yes, again another good call, leaving the boat in the water.
