My apologies to anyone who might be involved, but this boat's name looked to be very appropriate when we were in Shotley on Saturday.

You lot are all spoilt with your fin keels and responsive rudders. That looks pretty normal to me. :encouragement:
Should have seen me last year (not) in Limehouse Marina lock!!
The little lockie chap there thought he knew my boats handling better then i did, he wanted stern line first & that only drags the stern into the wall. Midships + engine works every time.
He "had a little chat" when i booked out stating it "was his lock & i would do as he wished"
Midships cleat + engine, jobs a goodun
+1
Works every time with midships line tight. Done it in Shotley and dozens of locks in Holland.
Except Limehouse Basin
"proper boats don't have midships cleats".
No problem, just engage both stern and bow thrusters in the same direction, assign one member of the crew to the bow and another to the stern. . . .
We dream of having centre cleats, side decks wide enough to mount them on, and the supreme boating skills and confidence necessary to be able to suggest anyone getting such a manouvre a bit pear shaped is merely lacking capability.
Meanwhile, there but for the grace of God (and long boathook)!
I would add that an essential bit of kit is a long pusher pole with big bits of rubber on each end. Marvellous bit of kit!
