Does anyone know if there is a size limit (we are 40') for use of the visitor moorings at Ramsholt?? Planning to visit there later in the week. The East coast pilot just says there are 200 morings there. No detail.

You should be o.k. at 40 ft.
When you get there find George the Harbor Master.
He is usually on his 23' yacht moored by the stone dock.
He will allocate you a mooring.

Note:- There are no "Visitors Moorings" All the moorings are private.
All the mooring equipment belongs to the mooring user who rents the space.
George will let you use a mooring that he knows the user will not be back to that day.

I was there with my modest 31' last week and George was commenting on all these Dutch people with 40 footers and that generally boats were getting bigger.

There are a few moorings at Waldringfield but not many (ring the boatyard) but there is anchorage immediately north of the Waldringfield moorings were some bigger boats were anchored.

when you leave seek out George & thank him ect /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif, he will then remember you nxt time as a "Nice Chap " /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

36' limit on all moorings at Waldringfield as larger boats swing into the fairway & ground tackle on most may not be up to it (no chain on yard buoys). Suggest anchoring at the Rocks or the Tips, just upstream of Waldringfield.

The flooding problems are upstream - Morzen is fine (at least there have been no calls from the yard...) but we had a garage full of water at home! Got a great sail in last Sunday but next weekend looks like a washout...
