Hi All,
I am in the very early planning of a trip from Ramsgate to Ostend, not sure if its best to go north or south of the Sandettie bank separation zone.
Looking to go perhaps week after next, any thoughts welcome.
Ta in advance(anybody else going around this time?)

Best advice - do what the ferry does /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

The TEF ferries leaving from Ramsgate aim for a point off Dunkerque, then shoot up the coast towards Ostend. Look at the tides, if you get your timing right you'll be surfing all the way up the coast. (Dunkerque - Ostend is about 30NM).
Should be about 65-70NM.
Most of the time I just let Ramsgate, steered 090°, and 8-9 hours later - Ostend (56NM) /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Good luck

PS: might go over the WE after next (from Harwich) - maybe see you there?

Thanks Guppa. All those banks look a bit menacing, can you just follow the coast or do you normally skirt round the banks. Thank you.

There is a very well buoyed channel with (last year) only one little dog leg which again was well buoyed. As Guapa indicates it is not very far off shore.
