Arrived in Ramsgate today (from Zeebrugge). Planning to go to London tomorrow. Will stay in South Dock Marina.

What's the best time to leave for London? I will do normally about 10 knots (motorboat, with enough power to do more if necessary)

Is it correct that the lock will work all day?

I'm planning to do some sight seeing too, so will go up to Tower bridget, Big Ben etc with the boat. Is there any place you can dock for an hour or so before I leave to South Dock Marina??

Best

Dan

Time it so that you get the flood tide as you round North Foreland to get the tide as you go towards the Thames. Which route are you taking, overland or channel? If overland check the buoyage N of Margate as it shifts about a bit and its tight there.

As for an hour's docking you probably have to go to Imperial Wharf, although depending on time you may manage inside the pier at Tower (watch the depth) You can also moor inside Greenland Pier but thats next to South Dock:-)

Let us know how you get on Dan
If you do go into West India, you will be parked up in a not very impressive corner. All the best stuff is about 1km away.Just head for the big towers

If you choose to go to Imperial Wharf, keep going through London and keep an eye out for Battersea Bridge. There is a railway bridge just after it and the pontoon on the starboard side after the railway bridge is the marina. They call it a marina, but it is really just a big pontoon. But a friendly one :)
