I have purchased a Garmin 2010C 10" chart plotter and have decided against fitting on the binnacle on my Moody 336 for various reasons. Instead I wish to fit under the spray hood ,but I am struggling with lack of space to fit the standard mounting bracket as I have reefing lines coming back to the cockpit.
The American Ram Mount system offers a unique sytem that
lifts the plotter up by about 6-7 inches on a single arm using rubber sockets top and bottom.
This would solve all my problems, but I am not sure whether the unit would stand the rigours of sailing with so much weight being held on a single arm. RAM say their unit is made specifically for the Garmin 2010C.
Has anyone any experience of this product?

I have used the RAM system for securing a laptop over our chart table and have nothing but praise for the system. It has worked incredibly well - no problems at all with movement or loosening during our trip from the UK to the Caribbean last winter, including some choppy conditions in Biscay.

I use a RAM suction mount to hold a smaller garmin 12 unit, but which still is quite heavy.

it never shifts and the suction clamp stays fixed to the saloon window all season without refixing

I have a RAM mount for my Radar display mounted on the bulkhead next to my chart table so I can use the display at the chart table but also swing it into the companionway so it can be seen from the cockpit.

It's a very nice, solidly built piece of kit.

I originally bought 3 "arms" to give lots of extension but ended up only actually using 1 of them, more than one looks a bit bulky and prompted comments from crew that it looked like the articulated light mount over a dentist's chair.

No experience of the specific product, but we've used RAM mounts on some of our survey craft for various screens & keypads and they've been very reliable
