This sailor has a 49 ft boat, and can't find a place for his pencils /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif [ QUOTE ]
How do people keep pencils and dividers from rolling around. Mine have a mind of their own. Are there any special holders, or can I fashion something out of a bit of something else?

WTF has it to do with what kind of boat he's got?

Or are you trolling yourself?

(PM if you want to know where to put your dividers, if you've got any /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif)

A troll only works if people rise to the bait, and then we end up in another situation where people move on. Not worth responding to buddy, let it go and think 'Red Diesel Prices' when you see them at it /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

. . .

While someone with an Aquastar 33 (similar price to Oyster 49) has a DIY piece of kit that looks awful!
Personally I always shop at Nauticalia, don't you???

Damo, lighten up mate,

I think anyone with a 50ft boat should be able find a place for his pencils /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Hi, Colin. I'm glad you're back under a new name. I hope you're well and that the recent movement of the navigation marks outside your window has been providing entertainment.

It's part of the original build and, whilst I would not want to quibble over aesthetics with a man who has strolled 'neath the dreaming spires, it does an excellent job of keeping my dividers and pencils to hand and off the floor.

Re: WAKE UP IN THE BACK THERE!

Yesterday, on shuffebutt, I saw a thread where someone was asking about losing or not losing pencils from the chart table.

I posted a picture of the receptacle on my boat which keeps them stored.

Someone started this thread on here and Malaprop said my gizmo was an awful looking bit of DIY.

I realised I knew Malaprop (to the extent of swapping emails and boaty photos with him) who used to post here under another name.

I then made the observations which puzzled you.

All clear as mud?

Oh, the bit of kit in question is as pictured below: I like it because it performs a useful function and is actually very nicely made. But I quite accept anyone else's right not to like it. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Re: WAKE UP IN THE BACK THERE!

easy answer, use carpenters pencils they just don't roll, even when you turn the desk into the vertical, nor does the note book, mouse mat, mouse,or anything else!
