I was thinkin', difficult I know, but as we burn all those gallons(oops litres) of fuel we are adding to global warming which means that:

1. The planet is getting hotter, good news for all of us.
2. This makes more wind, good for raggies.
3 More wind to charge their batteries from thos noisey wind generators
4. Sea levels are rising, more room for raggies to tack.
5. Think of all the tax revenue going to the goverments coffers, subsidising raggies

So what are they complaining about???

And in my own case even more so!!!! Some of them even pay me money as well to help them have massive great fuel guzzling monsters built so that I can afford to go sailing. What's the term -"A kept raggie" perhaps?

You are right, raggies should not complain and just to show my appreciation, here is a little song for all you MoBo's picnicing this weekend (and a warning to raggies):

If you go down to the sea today
You’re sure of a big surprise
If you go down to the sea today
You better go in disguise
For every MoBo that ever there was
Will gather there for certain because
Today’s the day the MoBos have their picnic

Every MoBo whose been so good
Is sure of a treat today
There’s lots of wonderful things to drink
And wonderful yarns to say
Across the waves, where nobody sees
They’ll skip and zoom as long as they please
‘Cause that’s the way the MotorBos have their picnic

Picnic time for MotorBos
All the MotorBos are having a lovely time today
Watch them, catch them unawares
And see them picnic on their holiday
Whose that stuck on the mudagain
They love to swear and shout, they never have any cares
And when their tummies and bladders are full
Swimbos will take them home to bed
Because they’re drunken little Motor Bos

If you go down to the sea today
You better not go alone
Its lovely down at the sea today
But safer to stay at home
For every MoBo that ever there was
Will gather there together because
Today’s the day the MotorBos have their picnic

Burn lotssss of gaaas......

(Apologies to "Traditional", whoever he was, and thanks to Jerry Garcia who did the best "Teddy Bear's Picnic " ever.)

Possibly we should all write to our MPs demanding that Raggies be taxed on wind. To be fair this would have to be on two sliding scales, one on the sail area of their boat and the other on the wind force on the day they were sailing. It would be simple to operate. Example. A Swan 43 has a sail area of 1140 sq ft. If they are sailing in a F4. Then 4x1140 = 4560. They are taxed then as using 4560 cubics of air.
Make it a nice small tax of say 5p a cubic. They pay £228 a not unreasonable amount for a day's full sailing in such a magnificent craft. Where-as a dinghy sailor would pay far far less.

Think you should factor into the charge the amount of time they were using the air as it was unavailable for use in an engine while they had it.

are you sure you shouldn't build in a tax for the number of tacks they do.

so if they are in a small channel going backwards and forwards across the channel causing a problem to proper boaters they would pay more...???

Yes, great care is needed talking about taxing wind because the Government here is already saying they are going to do that. The farmers are most upset (to the extent of driving tractors etc up the steps of parliament) because they are being told they are going to have to pay a tax on each head of cattle and sheep because they fart/belch methane.

Presumably this would be called a tack tax?

In which case, raggies would have to prepare careful passage plans to minimise the number of times they had to go about during a voyage - so-called tack tax tactics. To take it one step further, they could reassure themselves that they'd done the preparation by marking a tack tax tactics tickbox.

And so on..........

Equitably it should really be based on the amount of wind energy actually consumed so really it should be the weight of the boat x the speed x the inverse of time. This tax of course should be equally applied to all craft.
