Having just returned from a week on hlb's friend's Colin's boat "Englander", round Majorca, just want to say how much we enjoyed ourselves.
We started from Port d'Alcudia, then went to Cala Rajada, a sleepy place which seemed to cater mainly for Germans, then to Porto Colum, for the caves of Drach.
Ending with a longish (well was for me !) crossing over Palma bay to Portals Nous.
It seems that in the main marina's are extremely expensive some at 90 Euro's a night, so mainly we lay at anchor in the various ports, and it was great. Those last evening drinks once safely aboard, after the perils of climing down various ladders into a rolling dingy, were most enjoyable. Think the earliest we got to bed was 1.30am with 4am the first night aahm.
Englander drew a lot of attention, being a beautiful boat in superb condition, not easy to maintain being wooden. Colin has a crew of Ethen pictured with hlb, he's the younger person ! and his girlfriend Kerry, pictured with Colin (who is wearing a pink shirt)
hlb having been much reduced from captain of his own ship to crew, knew exactly how to sail and manouve Colin's boat, and lost no time in saying so. This, and laughter from hlb when Colin's boat mis-functioned, led to some overheated exchanges, one of which late at night must have kept the locals awake. Not that either of them would have heard any shouts from land to shut up.
Lastly, I now know that if you loose your passport between getting on the plane and getting back into the UK, they let you in anyway. didn't even ask me for any identification, or to see my ticket. amazing.
