Radome - Merry Fisher 795

Hi All,

Anybody any experience of fitting a radome to a Merry Fisher (795 Series 2)? I'm contemplating fitting (having one fitted) a Garmin 18 HD+ and the obvious place is on the coach roof, to stern. I was wondering what kind of strengthening might be required, if any, to bear the radome and it's mount (scanstrut probably).

That portion of the roof is hollow so I guess access will be problematic. I did ask the question of Jeanneau (via email) but got an absolutely useless, totally unhelpful reply.

Any info appreciated.

I don’t know your boat but having fitted the Raymarine Quantum which is basically the same, it’s a very light unit and the job is very diy do-able. I‘d be surprised if strengthening was required.

Disappointed that Jeanneau aren’t more responsive to what looks like an optional extra. To be honest that would be the most expensive route.

The jeanneau response to my email was very poor. Looking at your link, strengtehning shouldn't be a requirement (as DavidJ suggested above) so that's good.

I guess some kind of 'inspection hatch' would be needed on the underside of the roof overhang in order to fit the mount.
