I have bought a boat whose radio licence ran out in 2005, Ive replaced the radio with a new DSC set and now need a licence, Is it a renewel/update or a new application?
I have the old call sign available, but there was no MMSI number.
Also saw on this site about plotter information being conected to radio, I have an old Garmin 128, will this need to be conected and how?
Thank you

easiest to make a new station application via the website advising that you have aa DSC and you will get an MMSI number etc issued

connect 128 to radio, set it to send NMEA rather than garmin message and bobs your aunt - any probs list the radio here and full wiring appears as is by magic!

Thank You, I have now registered on the ofcom site and just waiting for login details, I am reading theGarmin owners manuel and it has instructions for conecting to power supply (todays job) but nothing on conecting to the radio, I shall look up the radio make and model number later and take you up on your kind offer of wiring instructions, Thank you

licence ran out in 2005

[/ QUOTE ] If you apply for a licence online (don't forget your password while you are waitng for your user id) you will find that the system will not recognise the old call sign. So either revert to postal application at £20 if you want to reactivate the old callsign (That is really what you are supposed to do I believe) or, simpler and £20 cheaper, forget the old callsign (You don't know it anyway do you.) and say "No" when asked if the boat has previously been licenced.

BTW if you are using IE7 take note of the advice from Ofcom about difficulties lownloading the licence OR just temporarily lower your internet security settings, down load the licence and then return them to normal.
