Hi guys.

My first post on this site.

I am researching the wreck of the Mi Amigo, the first home of the off-shore radio station from the 1960's

I have been out twice trying to find the wreck but with no luck. I the the official coordinates from the PLA and the "Reciever of Wrecks" but they are both wrong.

Any ideas please?

Thanks.

John.

Not a lot of help but I well remember they were the only station we listened to in the NW, when the operated from off the Isle of Man, I think that was the Mi Amigo, happy daze!

There have been a number of ex trawlers but I think the Mi Amigo is the wreck marked on Admiralty charts at 51.34.962N 001.17.321E, just off the NW corner of the Long Sand. But I did think it had been lifted or largely lifted. they wouldn't want it sliding off the edge of the sand into the Black Deep where some of the larger ships have little depth clearance.

It was the MV Fredericia which operated from Ramsey Bay IoM (Radio Caroline North) and not the MV Mi Amigo which was the Radio Caroline South off Frinton Essex.
