Mentioned on here was a French device that gave notice of ships sending out radar signals. It had LED indication for likely direction of ship. I put it on my favourites but that was on another machine. Anyone help me with a name, or even a link.
Thanks, chaps

Another old British design, remember Lokata, based in Commercial road Penryn, introduced in a hand held radar detector around 1985. The French took out an injunction to stop production on the grounds it used the same location system as an Exocet missile.

Were you looking for a device which warned you of shipping nearby and basic direction (within 45°) when your yacht is painted by their radar signal or are you looking for a device which just warns you of the presence of a radar pulse?

The later devices can be made fairly simply and about four years ago, I was considering marketing such a device for blue water cruisers and hoping to keep the price down to below £50.

I have one. Love it. I can set the range to horizon, 8miles. The alarm gives me time to get out of the bunk, find the direction to look and then go on deck to make a reasonable decision. It is something of interest. The company are helpful and speak English better than my French.
It is s&x band.

I had to get a seeme for one race. This indicates a radar at 30 plus miles. You may never see the ship.

Hello all;
I have one and I like. It detect more boat that AIS, but less precision. It is a good complement useful.
Far on the sea it is better, but remain careful there are some ghost fishing boats, I have met one during the JAC 2012. it was bigger than me.
