Umm if glassfibre absorbes RF.It may explain why my radar is so crap,as it is surrounded by a nice little box made of the stuff.
In addition whenever I need something out of my storage compartment it is always the reflector that gets in the way and always attempts to maim me when trying to get anything out in a hurry.

Active ones could be OK I am not convinced.
I was trained on aircraft avionics and specifically radar and personally think having a small plastic box with foil in is total b&^^ocks, to put not too fine a point on it. I have a 70 gallon fuel tank of steel and two large lumps of swedish engine, plus loads of aluminuim window frame. Does anyone honestly believe that something 2 ft long and 6 inches diameter will giv a larger radar x section?
When you read a radar reflector test in the mags most of it seems to be loads of manufacture A says his is better than manufacturer B, seems like black magic to me.

<font color=blue>Active reflectors are a different ball game. These cost more than my missus could earn doing the whole US 6th Fleet at fruppence a go.

Late response, sorry, been busy polishing my radar reflector... /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

You will find that the radome around your scanner is actually plastic (polyethylene), which has very low RF absorbancy.

Nigel
