err-stupid question perhaps-but im trying to work out where best to site my radome scanner on my ketch-ive read the manual but am still confused-pole mount isnt an option for me, due to limited space; ive seen installations with the radome on the mizzen mast, but wouldn´t the main mast cause a blindspot in the most important area to see? (ie straight ahead!). and wouldn´t siting the radome on the main mast itself make it vulnerable to snagging the genoa (or itself being damaged) whilst tacking and gybing? i already have enough issues with snagging, so-called "self-tacking" sails to contend with!! thanks for answers...

Firstly, you might be suprised at how little the radar signal is degraded by the main mast if you go for the mizzen mounting option. The radar electronics paints signals that appear several times in a particular place. As the boat yaws around, the main mast is very rarely a huge problem for the radar to sort out.

Secondly, I am not sure why you think that 'dead ahead' is the main issue. Crossing vessels are more likely to be the vessels of interest, as they are much more common than a vessel on an exact reciprical course heading straight for you.
