I am looking for a radar, anyone got any views on what would do the job in a 25ft er /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif I don't have a radar arch, do I need one made?
Furuno 1623 - only monochrome, wont say black and white cos it has serveral shades!! i think this is an excellent entry level radar. (i have one /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif)
Personally, i would not have a chartplotter/radar combo, cos if the screen breaks you have nothing, also give you more toys!!!!! which is really important. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
Oops, forgot to say, you need get it raised - mine is on my hardtop, on a scanstrut <sp> so is about 9 foot above my water line. - you will need an arch!
Oh yes, while you are here, if you explore up river at all there is a sunken boat (15 ish feet) about 300 metres past the motorway bridge, Came across yesterday evening while out in the rib. Akshully I'll post it.
Now why would you need radar in a little 25fter.... not like your going to venture out in anything other than perfect visability now is it /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
Your a right one to talk, my adventures are schoolboy stuff compared to yours, come on, get some of those stories in type and shock the Desk Commodore's /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

You've probably tried the handheld ones?

They are too difficult to use in a sports boat as you need at least one spare hand.
He would be better off strapping the scanner to his head and using a pedestal captain seat.
Then Pete swivel on it. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
with out doubt buying a new boat with a ready fitted working radar makes a whole lot of sense here ........
retro fitting an arch to your puppy will involve huge expense, new covers all round, then a radar, installation and then [--word removed--] me you wont have anywhere to mount the screen .........
I recommend this -
where you buy the radar and you get the boat free and fully installed below it.
