Read Racundras First Cruise by Arthur Ransome ages and ages ago and enjoyed it so much that came across a battered paperback and read it again.
Title popped up in head recently and got a new edition from amazon; its got a few additions plus some photos of what locations look like now.
Theres the famous bit at the start, "Houses are but badly built boats etc", but then he had problems throughout the cruise. I recall, however, the vivid descriptions of people and places and am looking forward to coming across them again. Barely started but thought it was about time the book got a mention.

Brian Hammett, who put together the expanded book, and the "Racundra's Third Cruise" book, sadly died last September. His boat Avola which he used to follow the route was bought by friends of his and has had quite a bit of restoration in Holland recently, and came back to Walton on the Naze last week.
