Racor - how to I remove that plug

I am trying to remove the bowl plug (or at least the draining plug) from my racor filter but it doesn't seems to move and really don't want to break the glass.
It seems that the big bowl plug is bolted on the glass and its purpose is to hold that metal "shield" whereas the small draining plug is bolted inside the bigger bowl plug. Is that so?
Any suggestions? Should I try harder turning the small draining plug first?

Are you sure that the bigger plug does not have a left-hand thread?

Might be worth trying some gentle pressure in a clockwise direction.
