Opus Helmsman

We need help with an autopilot conversion, previously Cetrek, now Raymarine.
We have been using the Cetrek 727 autopilot on our Helmsman Opus 35. The autopilot always malfunctioned. Since there seems to be no more support for Cetrek, we decided to use a Raymarine EV-200 Sail Pack to control the previous drive.
The drive is a rack and pinion drive. Unfortunately, no manufacturer can be identified.
The EV-200 unit does move the drive, but not the clutch. Also, I cannot control the clutch with a 12 volt power supply (output current 2A), only when I use my finger to help the electromagnet, then it holds the clutch and the drive would work.
Does the clutch perhaps need so much current that the EV-200 unit cannot supply?
Does anyone know this rack and pinion drive?
The boat is from 1979, the drive probably too.
Many thanks in advance!
